Portland locals are pretty anti-establishment and touting the McDonald’s brand would only create a negative impact for the company. To change brand perception, The PDX Project was created to allow local artists a chance to express themselves by painting their interpretation of the city on various OOH media, while gaining recognition via thePDXproject.com. The art was then auctioned off, with all the proceeds going to the local Ronald McDonald House Charities to help children and their families in need.
